Stage 1 — Pre-Installation Assessment

Wall condition — walls must be clean, dry, and reasonably flat for skirting to sit flush and bond correctly. Significantly uneven or damaged walls are identified and remedial options discussed before installation proceeds

Wall surface type — plaster, brick, blockwork, drylining, and tiled surfaces all have different fixing requirements. Our team identifies the correct fixing method for your specific wall construction

Existing skirting removal — where old skirting is present and needs to be removed before new skirting is fitted, our team removes it cleanly, minimizing damage to the wall surface beneath

Flooring status — skirting should always be installed after flooring. We confirm that flooring installation is complete before skirting fitting commences, ensuring the skirting sits correctly over the expansion gap and flooring edge

Stage 2 — Accurate Measurement & Cutting Plan

Our installation team measures every wall run precisely — accounting for every internal corner, external corner, doorway opening, window bay, and wall junction. A cutting plan is prepared before any skirting is cut, ensuring.Correct linear footage of skirting is allocated to each wall run Internal corners are correctly mitred or coped for a tight, gap-free joint External corners are precisely mitred for a sharp, clean outside angle Doorway returns are cut and fitted correctly End caps or return pieces are planned at all exposed ends

Stage 3 — Skirting Cutting

All cutting is carried out using precision mitre saws — not hand saws — to ensure perfectly angled cuts at every corner and junction. For high gloss and wooden style skirting profiles, particularly careful cutting technique is applied to avoid chipping or tearing the surface finish at cut edges.

Stage 4 — Wall Preparation

Where adhesive bonding is the selected fixing method, the wall surface is cleaned and prepared to ensure maximum adhesion. Where clip systems are used, the clip track is fixed to the wall at a consistent height — checked with a spirit level throughout to ensure the finished skirting runs perfectly horizontal even where the floor level varies slightly.

Stage 5 — Skirting Fitting

Skirting is fitted wall run by wall run — starting from the most prominent wall in the room and working around to ensure the most visible areas have the cleanest, tightest joints.Each board is pressed firmly into position — against the wall and down to the floor surface — and held in place until the fixing method has engaged securely Joints between boards on long wall runs are staggered and fitted with joining pieces for a clean, invisible connection All internal corners are checked for tightness — no visible gaps  All external corners are checked for alignment — both boards meeting at a sharp, precise point Every board is checked for level throughout its length

Stage 6 — Corner & Junction Finishing

Every corner, junction, and end point is finished with the appropriate accessory — internal corner pieces, external corner pieces, joining strips, and end caps — all fitted cleanly and consistently to the same high standard as the straight skirting runs.

Stage 7 — Final Inspection & Cleaning

Once all skirting is fitted, our team conducts a full room inspection — checking every run, every corner, every joint, and every accessory fitting for quality and consistency. Any adhesive residue on the wall or floor surface is cleaned away carefully before handover.
